Book Dragon

Crochet your own blanket featuring this whimsical dragon! It is full of imaginary ancient runes, and a tiny dragon on a book. The art on the sides is reminiscent of an ancient language but doesn’t actually say anything (as far as I know).

As with all of my patterns, you have the option of using the interlocking crochet technique or the overlay mosaic crochet technique. Each technique has its own file. And each file has written line-by-line instructions and a chart. The mosaic chart has X’s showing where to do your dropped double crochets.

The Locked Filet Mesh (LFM) interlocking crochet method uses only chain spaces and double crochets to create a mesh; two colors are worked alternately which creates the pattern.

Mosaic crochet uses single crochet and double crochet stitches. The double crochet stitches cover some of the other color’s single crochet stitches to create the design. My patterns instruct you to cut your yarn at the end of each row. The back is striped but often gives a faint impression of the pattern on the front (sort of like illusion knitting).

– Chart is 235 x 293
– Gauge: 8 (dc, ch) x 8 rows = 4”
– 59” x 73” / 149cm x 186cm
– 4.5 mm hook (US7)
– Worsted weight yarn (4880 – 5380 yards total)
– Main color (MC) (darker color) – 2440 yards plus 500 for optional border
– Accent color (AC) – 2440 yards

**For Mosaic Crochet**
– Chart is 231 x 289
– Gauge: 14 sc blo stitches x 15 rows = 4”
– 62” x 83” / 156cm x 210cm
– 5 mm hook (H-8)
– Worsted weight yarn (5525 – 6325 yards)
– Main color (darker color) – 2700 yards
– Contrasting color – 2825 yards
